Why He'll Win: Tapped by Barack Obama in 2008 to lock in that elusive Amtrak vote, "Scranton" Joe Biden successfully restored the vice presidency to what it was before the Cheney era: a thankless position headed by a lovable goof 62% of Americans can recall by name.  Biden's reputation as a straight-shooter is well-earned, as he has proven time and again to be incapable of keeping whatever stray thought which enters his head to himself.  This proved beneficial in early 2012, when Biden voiced his long-winded support for marriage equality, prompting President Obama to come around to a position held by most of his base.

Why He'll Lose: Biden became a senator as soon as he was constitutionally allowed to be one, at age 30, making him one of those much maligned "Washington Insiders."  Despite his insider status, Biden's net worth is "only" somewhere between $59,000 and $366,000, a direct result of paying for all those train rides to and from the capitol.  And while Biden was able to attain higher office while riding Barack Obama's coattails, Biden's solo efforts where much less successful - Biden's only votes in 2008 came from people who thought they were voting for Sen. Chris Dodd.
